[GREENEVILLE, Tenn] -Larry Keith Huddle, 39, of Sullivan County, Tenn, pled guilty on August 24, 2009, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee at Greeneville, to one count of violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Sentencing has been set for November 23, 2009 at 1:30 p.m, in United States District Court in Greeneville.

Huddle faces a maximum term of ten years in prison; a maximum fine of $250,000; a maximum term of lifetime supervised release; and a special mandatory assessment of $100.

Huddle, who was convicted of attempted aggravated sexual battery in 1998, was deemed a violent sex offender under Tennessee law and required to register quarterly with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. After an unrelated conviction in 2007 in Sullivan County Criminal Court, Huddle was required to wear an electronic monitoring device. On June 17, 2008, Huddle cut the electronic monitoring device from his body, discarded it in a dumpster, and absconded. The United States Marshals Service located Huddle in Summerville, South Carolina, on July 30, 2008, as part of its Operation Falcon fugitive location initiative and returned him to Sullivan County, Tennessee, where he faced separate state court charges. Huddle has remained in state or federal custody since he was apprehended on July 30, 2008.

This indictment was the result of an ongoing investigation by the United States Marshals Service, Sullivan County, Tennessee’s Sheriff’s Office, and the Dorchester County, South Carolina Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Helen Smith represented the United States.
